Careers that Help People

January 24, 2018 (Investorideas.com Newswire) Choosing the right career path involves a lot of decisions. What makes you excited? What types of tasks do you least enjoy? What could you realistically see yourself doing for upwards of thirty years?

A college degree can always be changed mid-school, and you can always go back to switch career paths, but trying to decide what career is right for you before college will save you a lot of stress.

Many people enjoy the idea of helping others for a living. If you think a desk job would have you wilting, but a job where you bettered people's lives would bring meaning to your workday, here are a few career options that allow you to help people.

Nursing

Most often thought of when it comes to helping others, nurses save lives. An invigorating course of study with a rewarding job at the end of it, nursing opens a broad range of options. An accredited BSN degree can be obtained at every college, making your choice of schools broader.

Therapist

Whether you're a massage therapist or physical therapist, helping people's bodies heal is a lot like nursing, but with an entirely different degree. It involves more one-on-one appointments, physical contact, and weekly chatting. If that sounds like a good fit for you, you can consider one of the many types of therapy jobs.

Social Worker

Social workers cover a broad range of fields. Whether you choose to become an adolescent counselor, an activities director for an assisted living, or assist with adoption or abusive family situations, you'll end up helping people wherever your route takes you.

Substance Abuse Counselor

It's important to have individuals trained and ready to assist anyone trying to get out of a drug or alcohol option. This career path allows you less of the stress of ER work or foster care, but it still allows you to affect people in powerful ways. You could work as an individual, or at treatment centers, where you can find treatment for dual diagnosis, and other care advantages.

Early Childhood Educator

Early childhood education is more than glorified babysitting. The managers of preschools have a beautiful task ahead of them: help kids grow properly in their early, formative years. If you love kiddos, this is a perfect career choice for you, since it allows you regular contact and fun with toddlers, while paying a higher salary than a daycare employee.

Criminal Justice Worker

There are many jobs available in the criminal justice field, including prison work, police work, and homeland security. Each job allows you to keep people safe, all while staying on your feet and having a different experience every day. This job is best suited for people with a quality of toughness, and a desire for adventure.

There are even more career options for helping people than those mentioned here. If improving the world is on your list of career importance, consider some of the jobs in this list and see if one of them is right for you.
